Video Ski Instruction

Most skiers stop improving "when they hit the intermediate or advanced-intermediate stage. They never really experience all of the beauty of skiing. They're trapped. They're merely coping when they go down a mountain; they're not flying or dancing. They don't make the transition to expert because expert skiing is not an improved version of intermediate skiing. Expert skiing is different. It's not harder, it's just different."

Lito Tejada-Flores

Breakthrough on Skis I- Expert Skiing Simplified. A private lesson with Lito Tejada-Flores

Lito breaks down the transition from an intermediate skier to an expert skier into 3 steps:1. Learning to ride the outside ski of the turn in clean round arcs. 2. Developing a bombproof parallel start through early weigh shift. 3. Mastering short link turns, straight down the slope, using dynamic anticipation--a movement pattern where the skier's legs and feet turn from side to side, beneath a quite upper body.

The combination of Lito's charismatic teaching style and the use of slow-motion and close-up photography make these videos some of the best ski instruction videos that I have seen.

Breakthrough on Skis II-Bumps and Powder

Lito is 55 years old with a rebuilt ACL and he skis the bumps with an elegance and grace that I can only hope to achieve. His trick? He skis in control! In this video, he introduces you to a softer, gentler style of skiing bumps in which the skier uses the shape of each bump to turn, and to slow down. He reveals and explores different lines through the bumps; the short fast exit from bump turns and the long slow exit. Finally he show you how to put it all together in long continuous graceful bump runs. And then, after making friends with bumps, Lito turns his attention to the secrets of powder snow...

Breakthrough on Skis III-The New Skis

Lito demystifies these remarkable skis and, in a series of simplified steps, initiates the viewer into the enticing new world of pure carved turns.... As with Lito's earlier tapes, slow-motion and close-up camera work create a fresh new vision of how these new skis actually work on the snow

Anyone can be an Expert Skier: by Harold Harb

This video will teach you how to ski using the Primary Movements Teaching System, which is a revolutionary, movement-based approach to skiing. It teaches expert-level movements to all levels of skiers, avoiding dead-end maneuvers that must be unlearned. These expert movements are biomechanically accurate - based on how the body moves - and they take advantage of how skis are designed.
